Abstract

A patient with intractable chylous ascites after a successful Warren shunt procedure is presented. The general incidence, etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment modalities of chylous ascites are discussed. Chylous ascites is a serious postoperative complication of the Warren shunt and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a patient with ascites subsequent to this procedure.
