Abstract

This update discusses the available evidence and provides recommendations regarding when to observe and when and how to treat prophylactically retinal breaks in eyes. These recommendations include eyes with conditions predisposing to rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, such as those with retinal degeneration, aphakia, fellow eyes of a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, or eyes of patients with inherited vitreoretinopathies.
