Abstract

Foreign matter deposited by explosion is commonly found on the face, neck, and hands. Gun powder, gasoline, and household gas are the usual chemical causes. Firecrackers, firearms, dynamite, and bombs are common sources. Foreign matter deposited by abrasive force is more common than that from explosions. Falls from bicycles and motorcycles and automobile accidents are the usual events. Blacktop areas and macadam roads are the usual sources of the foreign particles. The sites of deposition in descending order of frequency are face, forehead, chin, hands, knees, lateral aspects of thighs, shoulders, breasts, forearms, and back.
