Abstract
It is expected that for adhesive defects, much of the critical nonlinear behaviour will occur in the narrow (thickness ≪ λ) adhesion interface regions. Here we treat the interesting parts of the problem by considering the system as a single layer with nonlinear interfaces. Wave propagation in this system is investigated in the time domain using a normally incident longitudinal plane wave and compared directly to experimental results.
