Abstract

Nontyphoid salmonellae can lead to bacteremia in immunocompromised patients and subsequent development of thyroid abscess, especially in patients with multinodular goiter. Coinfection with Strongyloides increases the risk of such bacteremia. We describe an unusual case of Strongyloidiasis complicated by Salmonella bacteremia and Salmonella thyroid abscess in a patient with AIDS and multinodular goiter.
