Abstract

The homogenization scheme of Ferrari and Johnson yields the effective elasticities of short fiber composites with arbitrary orientation distribution of the fibers. As a foundation for the numerical analysis, an isomorphism between the set of invertible fourth-rank tensors and non-singular matrices is here established. The case of an isotropic-isotropic composite with transversely isotropic distribution of penny-shaped fibers is presented.
