Abstract

The spinal cord is the most important organ at risk to consider for spinal stereotactic body radiation therapy because of the devastating consequences of radiation myelopathy. As such, Chapter 9 will discuss radiation myelopathy. This chapter will cover those major additional complications reported in the literature that include vertebral compression fracture, pain flare, esophageal toxicity and radiation-induced radiculo-pathy/plexopathy, and the ways to possibly minimize the risk of and manage these complications.
