Abstract

Paresis is a clinical sign consisting of a partial loss of power of any muscle group. It is important to assess power not only by testing isometric strength but also by using functional tests, such as heel walking, which may uncover very mild weakness. Paresis can be related to lesions affecting any part of the motor pathways, from the cerebral cortex to the muscles.
