N2 - The pubovaginal sling, reintroduced in the late 1970s by Maguire and Blaivas, has become the gold standard for managing anatomic incontinence. Newer technology, materials, surgical techniques and even new theories on the mechanism of action are evolving to further reduce the morbidity of these procedures and improve patient satisfaction. In the following review, we will highlight some of the exciting advances we have witnessed over the last year and try to put them into perspective for the reader.
