Abstract

Purpose of Review: The following review outlines the current approaches used in the diagnosis and management of retinoblastoma, emphasizing new findings in the field of genomic analysis. Recent Findings: Recent genomic studies of retinoblastoma have demonstrated that molecular markers from aqueous humor samples correlate with disease progression and have also identified novel copy number alterations associated with more aggressive disease. Consideration of these genomic factors may be warranted in future management of retinoblastoma. Summary: Retinoblastoma is a curable childhood cancer with optimal management that is particularly available in the developed world. Recent advancements in genomic monitoring and validation of approaches to augment international care offer hope for a concrete path toward improving global survival.
