Abstract

It is established that certain sex-specific hepatic drug and steroid-metabolizing activities are due to the sex-dependent expression of specific cytochrome P-450 isozymes, under the control of gonadal steroids and pituitary growth hormone. It is probable that most observed sex differences can be accounted for by the presence of one or more of these isozymes.
