Abstract

After incubation of testosterone with the 105000 ×g microsome fraction from human foetal liver 4‐androstene‐3α,17β‐diol was isolated. Incubation of testosterone with the 105000 ×g supernatant fraction resulted in the formation of 4‐androstene‐3α(and 3β),17β‐diol. When incubated with liver slices testosterone was metabolized into 4‐androstene‐3α,17β‐diol and 3α‐ and 3β‐hydroxy‐4‐androsten‐17‐one.
