Abstract

There is controversy regarding the reliability of ⁶⁷Ga scanning for detecting hilar and mediastinal metastates in lung cancer. Approximately 90 percent of primary lung carcinomas of all histologic types are avid for gallium, a finding confirmed by numerous investigators. However, there is considerably more variation in the figures reported in recent studies of detection of hilar and mediastinal metastases with gallium.
