Abstract

We present the solution of the problem of torsion of an inhomogeneous rectangular prismatic bar. We first develop a general methodology wherein we reduce the problem to the solution of a simple linear ordinary differential equation. Subsequently, as illustration, we investigate in detail a particular choice of the form of the shear modulus.
