Abstract

Liver transplantation (LT) has evolved from an investigational procedure to the definitive treatment of choice for end-stage liver disease (ESLD). Multiple factors, such as surgeon experience, recipient age and disease etiology, donor age and ischemia time, operative technique and perioperative/postoperative management, have been associated with patient and graft survival in LT. This chapter summarizes current outcomes in adult LT and reviews the literature as they relate to these factors.
